Calling all mermaids

This is a collage page of mermaid images...the one in the center is the doll made by Tracie Rebsamen...others are ornaments or images from the Internet. The seashells spelling my name were done by Carmen!

Inner Child Magic and Creativity

Two of the last pages done in my first "cut and paste" art journal.....these images came together from magazine clippings and rubber stamps....as if the universe was sending me a message!!!

It is fun to look back today, New Year's Eve!

Art Journal pages from years back (auld lang syne?)

These are 2 collages done with magazine photos....they seemed to build themselves as if by magic....and I always loved the results....
...........of course having very arty photoshoots to begin the process doesn't hurt! These have a Celtic, "Mists of Avalon" feel to me....I enjoyed pullling out the old journal and browsing!

A fairy doll from down under

Look who I found flitting around in my garden after the mail came! (....and there was an open envelope from Australia lying on the lawn)

Alicia Cascade is her name....a midsummer fairie. She blends right in with the light greens of my maple and the lavendars of my hosta blooms!

Lunarose a midsummer fairy doll

Meet Lunarose, a mid summer fairy doll. She loves to fly through gardens in the moonlight, sipping dewdrops and looking for the perfect rose!

More photos of her adventures to follow, we hope!

Esmeralda....a Love goddess with an attitude

This is Esmeralda.....she is almost finished and ready to go on ETSY.

Esmeralda is a Peruvian love goddess whose traditional color is emerald green. According to legend, if your lover is unfaithful, any emeralds he has given you will lose their color!

She stands with her hand on her hip, a shawl tied around her hips, a right hand full of love charms and a dancing shoe! (with the shawl this way, she is showing her gypsy soul!)

Now she is lifting her skirts...to show off her ankles and fishnet stockings!

Danu--Celtic river goddess art doll

This is the doll for the art doll swap for May......
Celtic goddess doll.

Standing, in the swirling mists from the waters, she pours the rivers of the world as they bubble up from her basin.

Her cloak is evocative of leather and of straw or grass....as she is also the goddess of agriculture and cattle.

[She is about 10 inches tall, and weighted to stand on her own.]

Little Green doll from Lisa (Oceandreamer)

This is the doll I got from Lisa today!!!!!!
We have to look closely to find her.... her story...
"As the snow melted Little Green sat on the log with those she loved. The forest felt cool and damp but they could sense Spring. Little Green, in order to keep safe, blended into her surroundings. She was very loyal to the woodland creatures and they to her. When encountering a human her face cannot be seen but you may hear her wings....!!!!!!"
She is delightful! ......sitting on a fallen log, with lots of birds and bird nests, even one for a hat!
I love her, Lisa!

This is a drawing of the inner child doll I made for myself. My childhood was full and ended late. So my doll is a bit worn out.
She is 'aged' on purpose.

Fern finds a nest

This is Fern, she is a woodland sprite who spends much of her happy time scampering around the forest floor.

Today she found a nest which had fallen out of the tree. Luckly, no eggs were broken!

She is about to fly up and return the nest, making sure it is secure this time and will not be blown out by any of the blustery winds we have been having just now!

Visual journal pages

Here we have my "day off today" page...the clock a favorite motif, and unstructured time is a challenge on a true day off. I did 2 chores...made the bed, and boiled eggs for dying. No chocolate bunnies for me..it must be very dark chocolate these days. Coffee and blogging research on the sun/moon sign combination. The round grapefruit is reminescent of the moon and of the clock and besides, it is a fantastic color!!!!

This is a playful page, not polished, just pasted...wrapping paper scrap from trash bin at the department store where I work...article on natural dyes for eggs and some of my china.

These are 2 pages I have worked on lately...I must say doing a blog uses much the same creative energy as doing visual journals.

The first is a dream of a sunny breakfast nook with colors inspired by Monets' kitchen...I have collected yellow china to give this look to the blue wall in my nook!

the second page has my new "indigo" watercolor tube paint floating around to make a night sky....and a sketch of a hare as I have recently learned that the folklore of hares is related to moon mythology.

Crescent Moon Goddess

A new goddess doll for the exchange...
Wearing a silver crescent moon her forehead, her arms raised in blessing.she is holding up the night sky. Abalone stars are a reference to a Mexican moon goddess who holds an abalone shell. Her sweater, knitted of moonbeams and stardust, is just dripping with pearls of wisdom!

Home of the Butterfly Queen...her treasures!

It appears that she is rather a clutter collector...or maybe this is just a projection on my part!

I do covet her amethyst ring!

Is she the Queen of the Butterflies?

This one is still in progress...it helps to get it up on this screen!
Exotic? almost....
Evocative of a butterfly? I think so and I'll work in that direction.

Tea with the Butterfly Queens

And you threw away the ad from Celestial
Seasonings?
It is now recycled with a watercolor 4x4 background ...

Egret

Four more 4x4's

More 4x4's

Playing with 4x4's...an armchair traveler's dream, souvenirs from travels and the key to the heart of Venice....?

Romance will Flourish

This is today's page from my Moleskine journal....all red and pink for February!

Two new dolls

These two dolls are just finished.
Busy Bee has the wildest life you can imagine! She never stops, she wears her heart on her sleeve...she is the Queen of everything and the Princess of Quite a Lot!!!!! (Which in her case is probably too much!) The bird's nest in her hair represents all of the future ideas waiting to hatch! She collects things, loves color, art supplies, sewing...anything creative! I know her very well because I am a lot like that! Her handknit sweater is a "coat of many colors" because she just can't decide which color she likes! She has sparkly aqua sequins for eyes and pink star-flower earrings.
Her striped and polkadot body is stuffed with polyfil and SAGE (for clear thinking).

The Blue moon faced doll is a contemplative crone. She is centuries old and holds deep wisdom...much of it intuitive.... the pearl she holds represents that wisdom, and the amethyst on her forehead (a 3rd eye...or the one-eyed crone?) will help her to be calm and centered. Her clothes and body are blue...midnight , royal, indigo the satin skirt has a dusting of celestial stars and the overskirt represents mists that sometimes cloud our understanding. She wears an indigo handknit sweater because knitting is an ancient art and helps to calm and "center" the knitter. Her body is stuffed with polyfil and lavendar for peace and calm. She is what I hope to grow into!
